First I want to thank all my friends from Ila, Trondheim, the world to show love for me and Italy. I love you all as well. Then a small lesson from your favorite (I hope) prof.

Citizen science is about involving citizens in the process of producing and understanding science for the benefit of the society.

What we all can do is to try to understand the data that sources like the WHO make available to us and try to comment with our local knowledge.

For example this is the report that the World Health Organization (WHO) produced yesterday. You can try to organize the numbers that are more near to you. It can be a good way to talk about the crisis to your children without showing the pictures of the dead persons carried out of Bergamo in Italy. The WHO has also several videos that are useful to make us understand.

It is better to try to understand and to try to empower people to understand than to use power to force people to do something they do not understand. There is a lot I do not understand. Why is the percentage of dead people compared to the infected 10% in Italy and 0,3% in Norway? Is it because Italian are more closed to their old people? Is it because of the climate? Is it a matter of time, will it be the same in Norway in one month? Is the health system in Norway better? All these questions are yours my dear friends.

Per prima cosa voglio ringraziare tutti i miei amici di Ila, Trondheim, il mondo per mostrare amore per me e l’Italia. Vi voglio bene anche io. Quindi una piccola lezione dalla vostra professoressa preferita (spero).

La scienza dei cittadini riguarda il coinvolgimento dei cittadini nel processo di produzione e comprensione della scienza a beneficio della società.

Ciò che tutti possiamo fare è cercare di comprendere i dati che fonti come l’OMS ci mettono a disposizione e provare a commentare con le nostre conoscenze locali.

Ad esempio, questo è il rapporto che l’Organizzazione mondiale della sanità (OMS) ha prodotto ieri. Puoi provare a organizzare i numeri più vicini a te. Può essere un buon modo per parlare della crisi ai tuoi figli senza mostrare le foto dei morti portati via da Bergamo. L’OMS ha anche diversi video utili per farci capire.

È meglio cercare di capire e cercare di aiutare le persone a capire piuttosto che usare il potere per costringere le persone a fare qualcosa che non capiscono. Ci sono tante cose che non capisco. Perché la percentuale di morti rispetto ai contagiati in Italia e’ al 10% e 0,3% in Norvegia? È perché gli italiani sono più vicini ai loro anziani? È a causa del clima? È una questione di tempo, sarà lo stesso in Norvegia tra un mese? Il sistema sanitario in Norvegia è migliore? Lascio tutte queste domande per te.
