I get this book as present from my dear friend Elena G. and I am sorry to criticize the book, but I have to. In the quadrilogy, in spite of violence and poor relations, there is always an attempt to lift oneself up, there is always somebody acting as inspiration. Elena lifts up Lila and Lila lifts up Elena when Elena does not want to read, teacher Oliviero inspires both Elena and Lila, even the two dolls, are source of inspiration, as when they disappear, Don Achille gives money to the girls so they can buy their first book, little women.
In “La vita bugiarda degli adulti” there is nothing positive, only lies, bad sex described in such a masculine way that I start to think again that Ferranti is not a woman, at least she was not alone to write this book. The symbol of the book, the bracelet, is mentioned too many times, as symbol of bad relations that do not improve. I hope young people will not read this book as it gives very little hope, while we need hope.

Il libro ha come tema la disabilita’. Straniera perche’ nata in America, straniera perche’ figlia di disabili, straniera perche’ vive a Londra. Piu’ straniera di me. Che bel libro, perche’ non l’ho scritto io.
Il libro Cosa pensano le ragazze mi è piaciuto come tutti i libri che hai scritto. Ho riconosciuto tante storie dei video e mi è sembrato di incontrare vecchie amiche. Ma non è il libro più bello che hai scritto. Forse il progetto doveva restare solo fatto di video? Ora vado a veder qualche video.
Ho riletto la storia della bambina perduta. Dov’e’ Tina? Dov’e’ Lila? Volevano prendere Tina o Imma? Anche una mia amica a Pisa venne presa da un camion un giorno di dicembre del 1982. Si diceva che si poteva sapere chi era stato. Chi era stato a uccidere la mia amica senza fermarsi un pomeriggio di dicembre? E chi aveva nascosto le bambole di Lina e Lenu’? E Lila e’ con i terroristi, con i mafiosi, con i buoni? E anche il professore Airota padre viene indagato. Indagato per mafia o e’ l’operazione mani pulite? E l’ultimo amante di Elena e’ un professore del Politecnico di Torino di otto anni piu’ giovane. E’ la nostra storia, la storia di noi italiani che tanto ancora non abbiamo capito. Si capiscono solo i romanzi brutti (scrive la Ferrante verso la fine) e ci si riscatta solo con l’intelligenza e le parole (dico io).
I read once again The story of the lost child. Where is Tina ? Where is Lila ? Did they want to take Tina or Imma ? One of my own friends in Pisa was killed by a truck one afternook in December 1982. They said that somebody could know who the killer was . Who is the man who had killed my friend without stopping a December afternoon ? And who had taken Elena’s and Lina’s dolls ? And is Lila with the terrorists, with the mafia, with the good ones? Even the professor Airota father is investigated. Is he investigated for mafia or political corruption ? And the last lover of Elena is a younger professor from Politecnico di Torino . It is our story , the story of us Italians who still have not understood our story. We are only able to understand bad novels (writes Elena Ferrante in the end) and we can only redeem with intelligence and by speaking out our words (I say this) .
Non Volare via – Sara Rattaro – si legge in un giorno, piacevole, molto italiano. temi: sordita’, fedelta’, amori giovanili.
Un uso qualunque di te – Sara Rattaro – anche questo si legge in un giorno, ancora la fedelta’, anzi l’infedelta’ e la famiglia, ma l’idea che non vi rivelo e’ originale.
La mia Londra – Simonetta Agnello Hornby – l’idea di raccontare un argomento, in questo caso Londra, attraverso la propria biografia mi e’ caro. Pero’ non conosco abbastanza Londra per appassionarmi a questo libro. Non l’ho finito, lo consiglio a chi conosce a ama Londra piu’ di me.
The Nightingale – Kristin Hannah – I read it on Kindle and listened on Audible. Listening is tough at the beginning. Reading is ok, I cannot say that I love this book but I did not give up and afterwards I started to enjoy. It is about World War two in France. The idea that the reader does not know who is the old woman who comes back to France is good. Infact of the three possible women I was not thinking of the correct one. I cannot reveal it here. The author has done good research but still the book is too American for me who have listed to stories about the second war narrated by grand parents and grand aunt and even my mother.
All of Us and Everything: A Novel – Bridget Asher – first started on Audible but I could not follow. I bought on Kindle and I do not like either. I have read all by jumping a bit. Too american for my taste.

Ho letto la Santa degli impossibili e sono delusa per tre motivi. Uno, l’ho letto in un’ora e non mi e’ restato niente. Due, l’inizio era bello e per questo l’ho comprato. Tre, gli altri che ho letto mi erano piaciuti. L’acustica perfetta mi era piaciuto molto. Ora che ci ripenso l’unico che ricordo bene e’ l’acustica perfetta, gli altri e’ come bere un bicchier d’acqua, ti disseti li’ per li’ ma non ti resta nulla.
